Jack White Nearly Chose A VERY Different Profession

In an interview today with BBC Radio, Jack White revealed that he was close to becoming something that would have been just a little different than a rockstar.

Jack White, front man of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and drummer for The Dead Weather compared a preacher’s life to that of a blues musician, claiming they shared the same sort of emotions.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today: “I was thinking at 14 that possibly I might have had the calling to be a priest.”

“Blues singers and people who are singing on stage have the same feelings and emotions that someone who is called to be a priest might have.

“At the time I thought I need to give myself a chance to play music while I’m a teenager.”

Born John Gillis, he grew up in a Catholic family and both parents worked for the Archdiocese of Detroit in the US. He was even accepted at a seminary to become a priest before he focused on music.
