SXSW 2011: Three Last.fm Discover Alums Among Spinner's 'Top 100 Acts'

To prepare for the onslaught of new music that is South By Southwest, Spinner has put together very useful list of the Top 100 SXSW Acts that no self-respecting attendee should miss. Gracing that list are three artists who Last.fm Discover has welcomed to the studio in recent months: [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dom[/lastfm], The Vaccines, and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ellie Goulding[/lastfm].

In their Spinner’s preview on The Vaccines they writes that “the band’s vintage sound harkens back to the glory days of American garage rock.” Spinner also notes that it’s only the second trip to the U.S. for this up-and-coming band.

Check out Last.fm Discover’s interview with The Vaccines:

Spinner calls Massachusetts band [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dom[/lastfm] “pop pranksters” and goes on to praise the group for its “cheerful, sardonic tunes that [draw] equally from indie rock and hip-hop.”

During their recent Last.fm Discover visit, [lastfm]Dom[/lastfm] performed a few tracks from their EP Sun Bronzed Greek Gods:
“Bochica”

“Crazy Girl”

Spinner also highlighted [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ellie Goulding[/lastfm] as a top SXSW artist this year. In their interview she talks about mixing Beyonce and Bjork in her music and, as they say, “why she badly wants male listeners.”

During her Last.fm Discover session, Goulding melted our hearts with fantastic acoustic songs, a couple of which are sampled below:

“Starry Eyed”

“Wish I Stayed”
