They’re due to release fifth album Nine Types of Light on April 12th, and today Last.fm Trends is looking at the scrobbles of the band’s ten-year career along with new material, to see how their forthcoming release may go down.
The band has offered the song “Caffeinated Consciousness” as a free download, and fans have latched on immediately to place it among older tracks on their weekly chart: 4,402 users scrobbled it 9,547 times in one week. New single “Will Do” is also at #7 on their weekly chart, suggesting that Nine Types of Light could continue the pattern started by their previous two albums, and enter the charts above Dear Science, which debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 in September 2008.
Aside from commercial success however, it’s “Wolf Like Me” from second studio album Return to Cookie Mountain that’s the fan favorite – and its popularity doesn’t seem to be waning. With an average of over seven scrobbles for the song from each of its listeners, the challenge for the new tracks will be creating something that fans return to again and again.
