Even before they had released an album, London indie-rock outfit [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Vaccines[/lastfm] were getting more attention than many more established acts. They were named a Rolling Stone “Band To Watch,” graced the cover of NME, and played the prestigious Later with Jools Holland show while their first record What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? wasn’t even available yet.
Now that we can hear the record, it’s clear that The Vaccines have lived up to the hype.
As shown in the single “Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra),” The Vaccines blend English indie pop with the strong influence of vintage punk like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Ramones[/lastfm]. The tracks are hook laced and fast paced without feeling disposable. From the recent reviews of their live performances and nabbing the opening slot for the US leg of the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Arctic Monkeys[/lastfm] tour they may really be one of the best new bands of 2011.
Standout tracks include “Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra),” “Blow It Up,” and “Post Break-Up Sex.”
