This year’s Last.fm Discover Summer Sessions performance series kicks off with one of our new favorites – a band out of Valencia, Spain named [lastfm]Polock[/lastfm].

Occupying similar sonic space as bands like [lastfm]Phoenix[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Passion Pit[/lastfm], the members of Polock are the pride of their hometown and are on a mission to bring their music to the world. Their 2010 debut album Getting Down From The Trees announced their arrival on the rock scene – click through to watch them perform songs like “Fireworks” and “Sometimes” in the first performance of the 2011 Summer Sessions series.

“Sometimes”

The members of [lastfm]Polock[/lastfm] are Papu Sebastián (vocals & guitar), Sebas Claudio (bass), Marc Llinares (drums), Alberto Rodilla (keyboards), and Pablo Silva (guitar). Each is barely into his 20s, yet they have already seen and achieved more in their short time together than many artists do in an entire career.

Prior to the release of Getting Down From The Trees, the band had already played some of Europe’s biggest stages, like the Primavera Sound and MTV Winter Valencia festivals. Their song “Fireworks” is perhaps their best-known tune to date — click play below and watch their exclusive Last.fm Discover Summer Sessions performance.

[lastfm]Polock[/lastfm] was one of the most buzzed-about bands at the 2011 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. A bevy of bloggers and tastemakers caught the guys during their many run-and-gun performances in Austin, an experience they related to us during their interview.
