This weekend, the Treasure Island Music Festival takes over the Bay Area. It is with out question one of my favorite events of the year. There’s just nothing like watching a great line up in the middle of the Bay. Literally, you are in the middle of the Bay! The beautiful city of San Francisco surrounds you as every note from every band can be seen (artists don’t overlap at Treasure Island.) How cool is that? Saturday is typically the electronic/dance night while the wonderful genre of indie-rock takes over on Sunday. Here’s are my top 5 can’t miss acts for day #1.
Please note, I love every artist on this year’s bill. Making a top 5 is near impossible, but I did the best I could. You really should see everyone. (Click here to see my Sunday list)
#5: Empire of the Sun
9:35pm – Saturday – Bridge Stage
It’s been 3 years since Australian electro-pop duo Empire of the Sun released their excellent Walking on a Dream album. The record has been finding people slowly, but surly ever since. With mentions in shows like Entourage, a growing fan-base, last year’s show stopping set at Outside Lands and countless plays on Subsonic over the years… it’s no wonder why Empire of the Sun are headlining Saturday night.
