With today’s announcement of the film’s soundtrack, Avengers Assemble not only brings an impeccable cast of masked men together but it may even deliver a bounty of new rock.

The 15-song soundtrack features tracks by Bush, Evanescence, Rise Against, Papa Roach, Buck Cherry and the first new single from Soundgarden in 15 years, titled “Live to Rise.”

Soundgarden were quoted, “We’ve been hard at work on our new album, which will come out this fall. When the opportunity arose to write an original song for Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ film… we thought it could be a cool match.”

Hitting theaters May 4th, Avengers Assemble is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.

In addition to “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3″ on May 3, 2013; and “Thor 2″ on November 15, 2013.
