Deftones don’t find rest appealing. After having put pre-production to bed, the band has scheduled studio time for July 9th. They’ll lay down tracks for their seventh studio album, the follow-up to their 2010 release, ‘Diamond Eyes.

The songs are very different, not heavy or slower but dynamic and go into many directions, it’s so heavy and so beautiful.” he goes on to say that the material sounds more like White Pony than any other album.

Moreno also touched on Chi Cheng’s recovery. “Every day is different and he is still fighting. It has already been three years and every day he makes tiny progress, but still does not speak or communicate… Sometimes he can follow some brief instructions to lift a leg or squeeze a hand, so we expect the best and we hope, but no doctor can tell us when he will wake up. All we can do is keep hope.”

Back in Febraury, One Love for Chi Cheng posted a clip showing him lifting his leg. Fans and loved ones have been rooting for him to advance beyond his “minimally conscious” state.
