Glasgow, Scotland band Franz Ferdinand were at the forefront of the British art-rock post-punk revival of the early-mid 2000s with their smash-hit “Take Me Out.” The song permeated the radio waves of the time, but the Scottish band haven’t played a show in about eighteen months. They broke that dry spell with some drunken “dry” Twitter humor and a show this weekend in Limerick, Ireland.
Earlier in the month, the band came back into the press in true British rock and roll fashion; with a controversy. Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos told one of his Twitter fans and a fellow musician to “never cover Oasis” and when asked why from another fan, Kapranos retorted that Oasis are “f**king boring.”
At their show, the band played four new songs called “Right Thoughts”, “Brief Encounters”, “Fresh Strawberries”, and “Trees & Animals.” Inserted into the set was always a moving snippet of “I Feel Love” for the recently passed Queen of Disco, Donna Summer.
The band performed “Right Thoughts,” “Brief Encounters,” “Fresh Strawberries,” “Trees and Animals,” and “I Feel Love” by the late Donna Summer.
In early May, Kapranos let loose with some “controversial” tweets. Tweets so “controversial” that he didn’t mind admitting to it. The “drunk” frontman, who was bored in a hotel room (which he said is a “heady combo”), told someone “Yes, I know. I’m just being confrontational for the sake of it and why the f**k not?”
So, when Kapranos was asked for some musician advice, he followed suit with his cheeky answers.
Never cover Oasis. Never forget your friends. Always have a laugh. RT @clarinesadira any advice for future musicians?

Another fan asked him why and Kapranos replied, “Nothing personal. Just because everyone does. And they’re so f**king boring.”
Franz Ferdinand will be in America for two festival shows this year including Lollapalooza in Chicago and Outsidelands in San Francisco. They are also working on a fourth album which is expected to come out this year.
