No Doubt Announce ‘Push And Shove’ Album Release Date, Single Coming In July
The wait is almost over for No Doubt fans. September 25, 2012 marks the release of the band’s sixth studio album titled Push And Shove. The band announced their first single titled “Settle Down,” will debut July 16th.
With a few performances scheduled next month, the band released a message to their fans.
“Hi Everyone… Hope you are sitting down because we’ve got some really big news to share with you! While adding the finishing touches to our new album we realized it was time to name it…so we did, and the name is…(drum roll please)…Push and Shove !!!
We also want to let you know that the first single from Push and Shove will be “Settle Down” and we’ll be filming the video for it this week with our longtime friend and collaborator Sophie Muller. Very exciting! – Gwen, Tony, Tom & Adrian
Over the past year, the band’s Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channel have been littered with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the production process. From periodic photographic updates to a webisode series called In The Studio, the buzz has been building for almost a year.
In fact, exactly a year ago today, singer Gwen Stefani told Rolling Stone: “It’s so exciting to have a record coming out, and we all want the same thing: for it to be modern and catchy and addictive. Once you make music that connects with people, it’s like you taste blood — you can’t go back.”
The album was recorded in Santa Monica with Grammy-winning producer Spike Stent. Stent has worked with a litany of international successes: U2, Bjork, Depeche Mode, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Franz Ferdinand, just to name a few.
Also working with the band is Major Lazer’s Diplo, who spoke with Fuse’s Dan Brown regarding the album: “I’m a huge fan of No Doubt. We completed the record about a month ago—it sounds like a single for the album. It’s called Push and Shove. I did my first remix ever for “Hollaback Girl.” So big shout-out to Gwen Stefani for letting me do that back in the day.”
In the coming weeks, fans will see No Doubt reunite onstage for the first time in almost two years. First, at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, July 22nd then on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, July 26th. A third television performance is set for Friday, July 27th on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in New York’s Central Park.
