Community Connection With Liz Saint John 08.26.2012

Liz Saint John interviews three guests every Sunday morning covering a variety of issues and topics. She talks with representatives from Bay Area non-profit organizations, documentary filmmakers, authors, and professors.

1. Jennie Fields talks about her new biographical fiction “The Age of Desire” about the relationship between writer Edith Wharton and Anna Bahlmann, her literary secretary. As Jennie started to write the book, 100 newly discovered letters between Edith and Anna came to auction at Christie’s and Jennie was allowed to come in and read them, adding more depth to her book.

2. Bing Quock, Assistant Director of Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, talks about the night sky, the Mars Rover “Curiosity,” and the current show “Earthquake.”

3. Eban Schwartz, the Outreach manager for the California Coastal Commission and Marine Debris Manager, talks about the September 15th California Coastal Cleanup Day, what’s washing up on our beaches, debris from the tsunami in Japan, and offers tips on how best to observe wildlife without harming any creatures.
