Community Connection With Liz Saint John 01.27.2013

Liz Saint John interviews three guests every Sunday morning covering a variety of issues and topics. She talks with representatives from Bay Area non-profit organizations, documentary filmmakers, authors, and professors.

1. Sonja Lyubomirsky, a professor of psychology at UC Riverside, talks about her research for her book “The Myths of Happiness.” Her 2008 book was “The How of Happiness.”

2. Heidi Schave, the education manager at the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, talks about the history of the ship during war-time, the role the Hornet played in the Apollo missions, and its current mission as an education museum. The Hornet’s STEM Program teaches students about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. On February 2nd, the Hornet will host the Grey Ghost Paranormal Conference & History Mystery Overnight.

3. Dr. Robert Lustig, Director of the UCSF Weight Assessment for Teen and Child health Program, explains how sugar is the reason behind the obesity epidemic. His new book is “Fat Chance: Beating the odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity, and Disease.
