It’s here, folks. This year’s Outside Lands has just unveiled its complete line-up. Headliners include The Killers, Kanye West, (returners) Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tiësto, and Death Cab for Cutie.
There are a few surprises—Disclosure is billed awfully high despite their recent entry to mainstream music, and Tom Petty is making an unprecedented headlining return—but all in all, we got a pretty good amount of guesses correct. (We see you Yeezy.)
Capital Cities, who in all honesty should have played last year, is finally making an appearance as a local act, and the line-up is showing love to acts new and old, from Haim to Atmosphere.
The most important act on this list though, is Kanye West. In the past, the festival has not fully embraced rappers as a headlining act (because of Rock the Bells maybe? Mad Decent? We don’t know). The addition of Kanye means the festival is beginning to embrace hip-hop as a widely-entertaining genre. Sure, he’s no Jurassic 5—we all know Kanye’s got an edginess about him—but he might be just what the festival needs to encourage Another Planet Ent. to make more forays into booking major rappers in future years.
Three day General Admission and three day VIP tickets will go on sale on Thursday, April 10 (this Thursday) at 10 am at APEConcerts.com.
