Not everyone is a basketball fan, especially a certain waitress at a local California Pizza Kitchen. Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha were dining at the restaurant “15 minutes away” from the Golden State Warriors star’s house in the suburbs when Curry ordered a beer. Then things went downhill fast, according to an interview he did with Dime Magazine:

Me and my wife went to dinner, and we didn’t have our daughter with us, and she was with the babysitter. So I ordered a beer, and I didn’t have my ID with me, ‘cause I left it in the car and I thought she’d recognize me. So the waitress asks, and I was like, ‘Uh, is your manager here,’ and I took my chances with him knowing who I was, and … he knew. But she basically, yeah, she wouldn’t give me the benefit of the doubt, knowing that I didn’t look like I was over 21 and not knowing who I was.

Luckily, the restaurant’s manager recognized the basketball star and he got his beer after all. As for the waitress, she probably got a pat on the back for not serving Curry without an ID. “I don’t think she knew basketball at all,” he told Dime. “I don’t think it registered.”
