5 Best SUBSONIC Tracks of the Month: August 2016
By DJ Aaron Axelsen
1. GIRAFFAGE – Bring Me Your Love
One of the Bay Area’s best electronic producers, San Jose’s own Giraffage, just dropped an incredible slice of soulful and chilled-out future bass with his latest gem ‘Bring Me Your Love.’ Perhaps you danced around in the Subsonic tent at BFD 2014 when Giraffage dropped some summer beats for ya and you can do that again this Halloween as he headlines Mezzanine, San Francisco.
2. WHAT SO NOT – Divide And Conquer
Australian beatsmith What So Not, who has collaborated in the past with fellow Aussie Flume, just released a nasty end-of-summer trap anthem with ‘Divide and Conquer!’ Catch What So Not headline the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on Tuesday, September 20.
3. BOB MOSES – Like It Or Not (Joris Voorn remix)
You can find the original version of ‘Like It Or Not’ off my favorite album of 2015 -‘Days Go By’ from Canadian electronic duo Bob Moses – but this brand new incredible, gorgeous, sweeping and haunting future house remix, turned in by Dutch DJ Joris Voorn, is some next level stuff. Mind blowing in fact! Catch Bob Moses headline the Fox Theater in Oakland on November 5.
4. DEADMAU5 – Saved
Not sure if the EDM tech bros are gonna dig this complex, 10-minute long electronica opus from seminal producer Deadmau5 or not, but yours truly is absolutely blown away by ‘Saved,’ the very latest from everyone’s favorite raver mouse. Sounds like a lost track from a John Carpenter score or perhaps a forthcoming track off the Stranger Things Season 2 soundtrack. Either way, kudos Deadmau5, for this brilliant tune.
5. JUELZ – Athens
Whoa! Where have you been all my life Juelz? This slappin’ new bass heavy instrumental from rising Canadian beatmaker gives me goosebumps every time. ‘Athens’ is a cinematic, intense, dark, sinister and driving trap monster that kinda sounds like if Hudson Mowhake and DJ Shadow got together in the studio. I give this a 5 star Yelp review. I’d definitely come again!
