1. BON IVER – 33 God

Folk-rock hero and independent musician posterchild Bon Iver releases a new album about once every 4 years, so when the bearded-one dropped his third album last week – 22, A Million – it was cause for quite a celebration for indie rockers and music bloggers alike. Topping our best of Soundcheck for the month of September would be the absolutely stunning, bewitching and alluring first single “33 God,” which basically finds Bon Iver deftly juxtaposing somewhere between Kanye West and Sigur Ros. Bon Iver has 3 upcoming sold-out shows at Oakland’s Fox Theater this month.

2. MONDO COZMO – Shine

Judging by everything I’ve heard so far from new LA artist Mondo Cozmo, I think it’s safe to say that he grew up listening to copious amounts of Oasis, Bob Dylan, The Verve, Primal Scream and Tom Petty. Their debut single “Shine” is a future stoner anthem and an uplifting and inspirational hymn and sing-a-long that will undoubtedly be enjoyed by campfires for years to come. Be sure to catch their SF debut on October 14 as they’ll be opening up for Night Riots at Rickshaw Stop.

3. ARMORS – Genesis

One of our most reactive and requested new tunes on the Soundcheck show from last month, Orange County 3-piece Armors are poised for big things in 2017!

4. MINIATURE TIGERS – Crying in the Sunshine

As the music world continues to hold their breath for MGMT to someday deliver new music again that is on-par to their groundbreaking debut album, may I introduce you to fellow Brooklyn synthpop veterans Miniature Tigers to tide you over. Their dreamy and infectiously intoxicating new single ‘Crying In The Sunshine’ already has me missing summer and dance parties on the beach and I can’t wait to catch them this week headlining the Rickshaw Stop, San Francisco. 5. LO MOON – Loveless

Lo Moon are a compelling and exciting new LA collective and their brilliantly buoyant new song “Loveless” is your quintessential soundtrack for watching meteor showers in the desert or for lonely road trips on desolated highways. Lo Moon masterfully create beautifully atmospheric and ethereal shoegazy soundscapes in the vein of M83 and Slowdive.
