A few months ago, we were teased with Instagram posts from bassist Shavo Odadjian & more recently the unveiling of several System of a Down summer tour dates have reignited the rumors.
In an interview with Kerrang, drummer John Dolmayan has confirmed that System of a Down has been in the studio:
“Our playing ability is better than it ever has been and we’re trying new things. We’re not trying to make ‘Toxicity’ Part II, just because it was by far our biggest album. This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Dolmayan.
Dolmayan also confirmed that the band has written 15 songs for the new album so far, and that this has been in the works for the last six months.

The band is touring Europe all summer so we should be able expect something new by then.
