VOTE: Most Anticipated LIVE105 Albums Of 2017

2017 is creeping up on us and with that news is starting to trickle out on who exactly is preparing to hit us with new music in 2017. There’s some LIVE105 favorites who are to set to release their first new music in a while.

Gorillaz

What we know:

The Gorillaz are definitely working on a new album featuring collaborations with De La Soul, Snoop Dogg, Vic Mensa, and Jean Michel-Jarre, and all indications point to a 2017 release. – Billboard

Linkin Park

What we know:

The new stuff is really powerful, and the stories and emotional content is really shining through.  We’re going to continue on this path until we feel like we’ve got more than enough material to begin the “sound” phase. – Mike Shinoda

Lorde

What we know:

“I’m not a kid any more, and more and more I’m realizing that the weirdness of those Mylar balloons is going to be okay,” she wrote. “Writing ‘Pure Heroine’ was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next.”

AFI – “The Blood Album”

What we know: The Blood Album drops on January 20, 2017.

 

Arctic Monkeys

What we know:

The band has been together in their hometown of Sheffield, England & have reportedly begun work on their follow up to 2013’s AM.

 

Paramore

What we know: They’ve been recording since at least June.

 

Foster The People

What we know: Not much yet, but they’re teasing the recording process on Instagram.

30 Seconds To Mars

What we know:

Speaking to NME, Leto said the album was “very, very different” to their past output. “I think our last album was maybe a bridge between where we were and where we are now and it’s a very, very different album,” he said.

 

System Of A Down

What we know:

“Our playing ability is better than it ever has been and we’re trying new things. We’re not trying to make ‘Toxicity’ Part II, just because it was by far our biggest album. This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Dolmayan.

Dolmayan also confirmed that the band has written 15 songs for the new album so far, and that this has been in the works for the last six months.

The Shins

What we know:

“I’m really excited about this record… I think we’ve got something that Shins fans will really love, and I think there’s some other things on there that are different enough. I made a concerted effort on certain songs to fit the palette, to use the palette that I’ve used historically for the band,” Mercer said.

 

Phoenix

The French indie rockers updated their Facebook last month for the first time in over a year & appear to be advising us to Stay Tuned.

 

Vampire Weekend

What we know:

Singer Ezra Koenig recently said that “For now in the Vampire Weekend universe, it’s all about recording the next album. There will be a lot of familiar faces in the studio but also some fresh, new ones. Working title is ‘Mitsubishi Macchiato’… for obvious reasons.”

Cold War Kids

What we know:

After touring non-stop last year, the band hit the studio this year to dive into recording. They’re currently deciding if they should release the album the end of this year, or wait until early 2017. “We’ve got a new record label. We’ve got a new lease on life,” frontman Nathan says.

 

 

Queens of the Stone Age

What we know:

“We’ve already started talking about what we’re gonna do next for the next Queens record,” Van Leeuwen explained. “There’s tons of ideas that are bouncing around … We’re going to do something before the end of the year, as far as recording goes.” – CoS

What we know: New single “Cocoon” is out this week

 

K.Flay

What we know: Her new “Crush Me” EP is a few months old, so her album should be coming in the new year.

 

 

Finish Ticket

What we know: the pride of Alameda have been in the studio finishing up the follow-up to 2015’s “When Night Becomes Day” EP.

Depeche Mode – Spirit

What we know:

the synth-pop trio have confirmed the release of their new album ‘Spirit’ for next spring. It was produced by Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford. – NME

The Killers

What we know:

The Killers, began recording their fifth album in September and Brandon Flowers has been quoted as saying he wants to “take the experience of playing over a thousand shows and mix that with the enthusiasm we had making our first album” on the new record. – NME

The Strokes

What we know:

“We’re definitely working,” bassist Nikolai Fraiture told NME. “As people know by now, deadlines are not our forte. Anticipation and surprises are still part of the excitement of releasing new music.” – NME

A full-length new Strokes album could drop at any time.
