Green Day, Paramore, Radiohead & More Sign Open Letter To Obama Regarding Standing Rock

British artist Kate Nash has penned an open letter to President Obama regarding what’s happening in North Dakota with the Standing Rock Sioux and their fight to keep a pipeline from being built on their native land.

She has enlisted the likes of Billie Joe Armstrong, Hayley Williams, Ed from Radiohead, Walk The Moon, Karen O, Sia, SWMRS, and hundreds more to sign the letter that’s main purpose is as follow:

“revoke the permits, remove the DAPL construction workers, and order a full environmental impact statement in formal consultation with impacted tribal governments.”

The full letter can be found at Noisey.

Though President Obama has made bold claims about his administration’s support for Native Americans, he has yet to comment decisively on the matter of Standing Rock. His successor, President-elect Donald Trump, has also been notably silent on the issue. – Consequence of Sound

Here’s the scene from a snowy Standing Rock earlier this week:

CANNON BALL, ND - NOVEMBER 30: Snow covers Oceti Sakowin Camp near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation on November 30, 2016 outside Cannon Ball, North Dakota. Native Americans and activists from around the country have been gathering at the camp for several months trying to halt the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The proposed 1,172 mile long pipeline would transport oil from the North Dakota Bakken region through South Dakota, Iowa and into Illinois. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)

Protests in support of the Standing Rock Sioux were held in San Francisco and in cities all over the country this past week as well.
